All parents damage their children. It cannot be helped. Youth, like pristine glass, absorbs the prints of its handlers. Some parents smudge, others crack, a few shatter childhood completely into jagged little pieces, beyond repair.

I went down the list and said yes to all of these. Lucas did all of these.

At the conclusion of my first year of college, I didn’t want to leave. I loved it so much that I would go to summer school with no hesitations. I’m happier there — it’s a euphoric feeling, to be truly happy. The people that I’ve found are people that I want in my life for the rest of time. And the people that I’ve yet to find — I can’t wait.
The beginning of Freshman year was rough. I think it always will be. It’s hard reestablishing yourself, trying to find where you belong, but when you do find it, it’s the best feeling. College is my home now, I dread coming to my actual “home”. I’m having a terrible summer right now because I can’t wait to be back at college. I’m in love with where I live (at school); I’ve found a little piece of paradise.
In terms of expectations, I would say that I’m satisfied. You have your douchebag guys, your spolied-brat girls, you’re gonna find annoying people, but then you find the people just like you, and in college, those are the only people you have to hang around with if you want to. You can branch out, or you can have that one close friend. I think once people realize that the course of things are in their own hands, it all starts to click a little easier.
